Race Report by Ian Ringer 23.9.19

Sorry about the delay peeps – busy day yesterday at the Saint’s Way Race (supporting, not running!)

The LANHYDROCK 10 lived up to it’s reputation for toughness – mucho gradients, sweat, puffing and a few tears (mine). But fortunately, no blood.

Although it was warm, the drizzle helped and, after a bit of worry about heavy rain, it turned out nice again.

With the stars of the Saint’s Way running the next day, and marathons coming up thee was a diminished turn-out. Even so we had 13 runners, including Lesley Taphouse and John Stedman who were the tail runners. They looked after the final competitors of the 196 who took part and came in at 2.27.

Dashing Damian Philp was first home for BRR in the great time of 1.19.37 in 33rd position. Well done Damian.

First lady home for us was Gail Hartill. Gail was third in her age group and came in in 1.24.51.

Not far behind Gail was Antony Boardman, now firmly established in the BRR male team. Antony finished in 1.27.51

Michael Reed had a good run and, it is said, had the puff to blow kisses to Rachael Wilsher who was marshalling. Mike finished in 1.38.27

Jane Stedman, as a little warm-up for the Saint’s Way on Sunday: 1.39.31

Calvin Mudd, not dog assisted, came home in a very respectable 1.41.19

A rising star for BRR is Julie Oxenham. Julie is going from strength to strength. She finished in 1.41.56. Well done Julie

No PB for Claire Barlow this time, but a good time anyway: 1.43.01

Next in was Colin O’Donnell. He finished in 1.45.20 and not far behind was John Tilley finishing in 1.48.20.

Another person whose times will improve in the coming months is Katrina Verran. Her time was 1.50.08.

Ian Ringer shuffled home in 1.53.08.

So, a very successful day, followed by the MTRS presentations, and home to beer and bed.
